Slinger History and Culture
Throughout the 2013-2014 school year at Slinger High School, students in Mr. Grimm’s sociology classes were asked to conduct a study on what they thought was considered “their neighborhood.” Between the various sections of the course that were apart of having to do this project, many different results were gathered from this study with many different results from the vast different places where students lived surrounding the Slinger area. There were three steps for completing this study, the first being a drawn map of the neighborhood, the second being different photographs that captured the overall essence of the persons neighborhood, and finally conducting an interview with another person to get their opinion on various aspects of the neighborhood. Below are some of the results that were collected by students as well as some overall generalizations that were made directly from the data that was gathered by the students as well.

Regional Areas
For the first step of the project, the students were simply asked to take a pen and paper and draw and label the boundaries, major streets, landmarks, parks, stores, restaruants, gathering places, house, workplace and any other place of importance.
Students were asked to summarize what they thought to be their neighborhood and by using statistical evidence using the 2010 Census as a reference. Three main regions were evident, those being rural/suburban, urban, and lake culture. Some examples of these are provided.

After all was said and done, generalizations of students researched was taken as well as the inspiration to this project was created to summarize the students hard work and research, and below is what was found.
